Praised for her “warm creamy voice” with three-octave ease, Canadian mezzo-soprano Patricia Green has gained international renown for her remarkable versatility and exceptional musicianship. Her vast repertoire ranges from the music of Monteverdi and Mozart to works by Boulez and Gubaidulina. Her busy career has taken her twice to the MUSICA Festival in Strasbourg with l’Orchestre de Radio-France, to the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam with the Dutch Radio Philharmonic, and to Haifa for the opening of the Baha’i Terrace Gardens with the Northern Israel Symphony. Her recital in the Glazunov Hall of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, Russia received a standing ovation. Ms. Green performed extensively at the Kennedy Center with the Theatre Chamber Players, as well as with the National Symphony and Washington Choral Arts. She toured France, England and Canada in the opera “Kopernikus” by Claude Vivier. Ms Green has appeared with conductors P. Boulez, L. Slatkin, P. Eötvös, J. Reilly Lewis, Z. Pesko, Sir D. Willcocks, R. de Leeuw, W. Wiedrich, A. Trudel, P. Rophé, N. Edison, and G. Meier.
As a performer of new music, she has created more than 30 world premieres and worked with internationally renowned composers Pierre Boulez, R.Murray Schafer, Gyorgy Ligeti, Pascal Dusapin, Lori Laitman, Moritz Eggert, Shulamit Ran, Lasse Thoresen, David Del Tredici, Laura Schwendinger, Heinz Holliger and Alexander Goehr performing with New Music Concerts (Toronto), Vancouver New Music, Esprit Orchestra (Toronto), Ensemble Parallele (San Francisco), Cygnus (New York), Posthoornkerk concerts (Amsterdam), Nouvelles Musiques Montréal and Continuum in London (UK).
In chamber music and oratorio, she has been featured with organizations across the US and Canada including the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Cathedral Choral Society, Washington Bach Consort, Library of Congress Concerts, Bethlehem Bach Society, Soundstreams Canada, Philharmonia Virtuosi, NY, Westchester Mastersingers, Baltimore Choral Arts, Russian Chamber Arts, Left Bank Chamber Music, Opera in Concert, and the United States Memorial Holocaust Museum Chamber Music series, and at the Elora Festival, Wolf Trap Festival, the Scotia Festival of Music, and the Michoacan Tri- National Arts Festival in Mexico.
Her performances have been broadcast nationally on television and radio across Europe and North America. Recently released and positively reviewed CDs on the Blue Griffin Recording label are: UNSLEEPING – Songs of Living Composers and THE ICE AGE and BEYOND – Works of Canadian Women Composers. She is also featured on six recordings with Newport Classics, Albany Records, and Live Unity Productions.
